What is an Apprenticeship?
A combination of on-and off-the-job training so you learn real-life skills whilst working and attending College to gain qualifications. PLUS you get paid from day one.

Earn while you learn
Apprentices do real jobs for real employers, you will start earning from day one. The average weekly wage for an apprentice is around £170, as your skills develop, your pay will increase accordingly.
Research has shown that apprentices earn, on average, over £100,000 more throughout their lifetime than other employees.
Training
Apprenticeships offer a structured programme to learn skills to do your job well. Targets and checks make sure you make progress and that your employer is supporting you.
Most of your training takes place on the job, plus the study will help your future career.

Your career doesn’t have to stop at Intermediate, Advanced or Higher Level Apprenticeship, you can go to University, many Higher Education Institutions offer Foundation Degrees or other qualifications.

On successful completion of your Apprenticeship:
- A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
- Key Skills qualifications such as communication, number skills, team working, ICT and problem-solving
- A technical certificate (BTEC National Diploma or City & Guilds Progression Award)
